I am going to say it depends on what the person does. Some metals are better for different people.
Titanium and Tungsten are really popular right now. They are scratch resistent and can’t be bent or cut. They can’t be resized so one it is bought in a size, that is it. You will need to buy a new band if you need a new size. They aren’t horribly expensive compared to some metals though which is nice. A problem that I have encountered though is I have had customers have issues if they work with their hands in tight places with them. If one of those rings gets stuck on your hand they don’t cut it off, they actually put them in vices and the ring shatters off. So what happens when you get your hand in a tight place and your ring stuck on something? I had a customer have his hand stuck in a car engine for 6 hours until they could get someone to come down and take the engine apart.
Platinum is nice and strong and doesn’t require a lot of maitenance. We actually didn’t sell platinum in the jewelry store I worked at and not many people wanted to order it. One thing which is nice about it is you don’t have to keep getting it rhodium plated. Bad thing is over time it will lose a bit of it’s shine and you really can’t do much about it (as you don’t plate platinum). That may be fine for a guy who may like a gun metal sort of look as it is a bit more sporty. Quite expensive, much more than any other metal.
White gold is nice because you can resize it. You can technically have the same ring forever because you can do maitenance on it as well. Problem. White gold isn’t the strongest stuff out there. It can nick, it can bend, it can look yellow over time. On a plus side, all of this can be fixed. If you get white gold I totally recommend getting a protection plan with it to cover all these repairs.
Stainless steel is inexpensive and lightweight. Pretty strong. Can scratch and tarnish but just take care of it. Can’t be resized.
Yellow gold is soft like white gold but you don’t have to worry as much about some maitenance (getting it rhodium plated) because you obviously don’t have it plated!
I prefer white gold over anything generally but as I said before, it depends on the person and what they are doing with their hands!

i would say tungstun, it’s cheaper then most the other metals right now and you can really beat that mental to hell and back and it won’t scratch or dent. so it’s a good metal if your boyfriend uses his hands alot for work.
thats what i bought my fiance and before i gave it to him i put the ring through hell to test it and when i gave it to him looked as good as when i bought it
