Isn’t it cheaper to make your own wedding decorations and accessories?
Instead of shelling out money and going into debt, isn’t it better to make your own wedding decorations and accessories?
I think I want to make my own decorations.I am even thinking about cooking the food for the occasion.I want to be the photographer and video camera person too.
Is this ok?
I want to get a tiara and glue the veil to it.I want to decorate the veil with rhinestones.I want to cover the shoes with rhinestones to give it that diamond look.I want to look like I have on diamond slippers.
I want to make mirror center pieces.I can buy the mirrors and decorate the mirrors.
Isn’t it better to make your own decorations and accessories?

I made all of my own, and that worked. However, being your own photographer and camera person is just a recipe for disaster.
I think you should. That way all your accesories will be unique
if you have the time and the can do attitude why not?
you’ll save yourself lots of money
Yes I think it is MOSTLY… sometimes you may have to splurge, if you want it right, otherwise dont do that part at all… lol by that i mean, if you cant get the veil and tiara together without it looking crazy, you may have to buy one… or … whatever you get the point.. lol
Go for it!
While you’re at it, you should be the bride at your own wedding as well.
Oh wait… you ARE the bride. Well, then. I guess you’ll be QUITE the busy little bee won’t you? Yes, yes you will.
Good luck with that! It’s possible. It has been done before. I personally wouldn’t put myself through that level of stress, but hey… more power to ya!
It is cheaper to do it all yourself.
I wasn’t much into the decorations to my wedding. However I had a BBQ reception. We cooked hotdogs/hamburgs on the grill. Had potato and macaroni salad, chips etc.. All the stuff you normally have at a picnic. Plus the wedding cake.
Hubby set up the video camera on a tripod and that was rolling during the ceremony. At the time, we had asked an neighbor of ours who does sports photographer to shoot our wedding. We really didn’t get alot of pictures of us, but more of the overall wedding.
So our plan is to renew our vows in the future. Now that I am a photographer, I plan to take our own pictures.
I spent $500 on the wedding. I didn’t want to go any higher and I didn’t. It included..the dress, food and everything in between.
You probably aren’t going to want to be the photographer and the videographer at your own wedding. It might be a better idea to ask a friend that knows what they’re doing, or go to your local college’s art department and ask a couple photography students if they’d be willing to do it. It’ll cost a little money (for their time and materials) but you’ll have MUCH better pictures, and it’ll be one less thing you’ll have to worry about. Enjoy the day! Ideally, you’ll only get married once, so live it up!
Also, you probably won’t want to cook all the food either. You’re going to have a lot going on that day, and food for a lot of people is a BIG task. Maybe ask some family members or friends to help? Usually family members will come out of the woodwork to help out at your wedding.
As far as Do It Yourself decorations, go for it! Just make sure you do it early on. That way, if it doesn’t turn out the way you hoped it would, you’ve got time to figure something else out.
For your shoes, instead of using glue for the rhinestones, I recommend epoxy. It will hold the stones on better than glue. And if your veil doesn’t turn out the way you hope, there are some pretty nice ones available on eBay for very reasonable prices. Good luck!
Making your own decorations is a good idea as long as you make sure you have plenty of time to do it. It gives you satisfaction of knowing what you completed. As far as being your own photographer, that may not be the best idea. Have you talked to your soon to be husband about his ideas? By the way, I would use some outlet stores or something for the stuff you need to do your decorations. For my wedding we did our own invitations and I had my mother-in-law alter my dress. My mother in law had a friend of hers do the photos. And my boss at the time was our Reverend. Now that it’s done though, I wish we would’ve paid a professional for the pictures and maybe to organize everything. You have to remember, weddings are kinda stressful anyway. You maybe adding to your stress level. Sorry so long of an explanation but I hope it helps.
